It follows the lives of unpopular seventh graders named Maya and Anna in the early 2000s. In my opinion, what makes this show so much fun is watching both actresses, in their 30s, play fictionalized versions of their 13 year old selves. They share the screen with teens who play their friends and classmates. It's cringey, funny and dramatic. The show talks about racism, bullying, and sexuality.
